Hi.

I'm Nadine. Thanks for stopping by. The floors are creaky, the kids are loud, but the door's always open and the coffee's always on.

Make yourself at home.

Low, High, DIY: The Telephone Purse

Low, High, DIY: The Telephone Purse

I didn’t know I wanted a purse that looked like a phone until I saw an adorable children’s bag at Zara. I could tell Matthew wasn’t entirely convinced that I could get away with toting around a kid’s purse as a quirky clutch. So I showed him a Judith Leiber option on eBay that costs a little more.

“It’s grownup!”

It’s also essentially the equivalent of storing your lipstick and credit cards inside a few mortgage payments.

I quickly fell down the phone-purse rabbit hole. Betsy Johnson's phone purses connect to your smartphone! The receiver works! Also: wicker. A wicker phone purse. There is nothing else a girl could ever need.

And then…WHAT IF I MADE ONE?!

Okay, so I probably don’t currently have the time or energy to make a bag that doesn't fit a sippy cup. But a gal can dream, right? And maybe one day I’ll have SO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS that I’ll scroll through old blog posts and be reminded of the phone-purse dream and actually attempt to make one.

In the meantime, maybe Ursula and I can share the Zara one?

(Apparently the phone purse was a brief thing in the '70s. And Lady Gaga carried a vintage one, like, six years ago. Everything old is new again. Also, you read it here first: cargo shorts are coming back. Promise.)
